No Heat for 3 Days - Emergency Situation

Our apartment has been without heat since Tuesday morning (August 10th). We have made multiple calls to the maintenance emergency line and have only been able to leave voicemails. No one has called us back or given us any update.

With temperatures dropping below freezing at night, this is becoming a serious health and safety hazard for my family, which includes two young children. The internal temperature of our apartment dropped to 55°F last night.

Timeline of Events

  • Tuesday, 8/10, 7:00 AM: Woke up to a cold apartment. Thermostat was unresponsive. Called emergency maintenance, left voicemail.
  • Tuesday, 8/10, 5:00 PM: Called again, left another voicemail. Also submitted an online work order.
  • Wednesday, 8/11, 9:00 AM: Called the leasing office directly. Was told they would "look into it".
  • Thursday, 8/12, 10:00 AM: Still no response or action. Temperature continues to drop.

This is unacceptable and, as I understand it, a violation of the warranty of habitability. We are requesting immediate action from management to restore our heat. We are also documenting every communication attempt and the temperature in our unit. Is anyone else in Building C experiencing this?

We are having the same issue in C-4! I finally got a hold of someone in the office and they said a part was on order, but couldn't give an ETA. This is ridiculous.

This happened last year too. You need to send a certified letter to corporate, it's the only way I got them to fix my AC last summer. Document everything.

Thank you both for the information. A certified letter is a great idea. It's helpful to know we aren't the only ones.
